Olivia - LOVING the New PDF Print E-mail
Written by Hans L Cordova

Olivia just laughed as she was ready to give her say as to how she got here as an artist.  I was fortunate to interview Ms. Olivia former G-Unit member at the W hotel in NY having an effortless poise like the pro she's known for BEing. She walked thru the elevator along with her three men entourage giving me the original "her" that I grew up on. Olivia became a well known name back in 2002 with her hit single "Bizzounce" after the first album with J records which gave her instant credibilty in the music industry. She also had another single which went full blast called "Single B*tch in Love" & became an anthem for her fans. As her fame started to increase she was noticed by 50-Cent a rapper who has paid his dues in the industry and brought Olivia to be the first lady of G-Unit. After one offical studio album under her stiletto and a long hiatus that almost made her a forgotten entity-so to speak-Ms. Oliva has returned squashing the rumors and giving her fans what we were waiting for.

She has a new record label, new management staff, and a new attitude towards her life and career.

BE-Mag: How you doing?
Olivia: I'm good. *laughing*

BE-Mag: Where you been?
O: I've been overseas, working on the album redoing everything. Change the whole and that's what I did.

BE-Mag: Your first single "Take it Off" I like it would that be the flavor of the album, would you give us original Olivia?
O: Ummm, I feel like it'll give you everything. You'll get the sweet element but you also get harmony and beats. So you'll see a lot on the album.

BE-Mag: I've read 2 interviews you've done about you leaving G-Unit. There's always 2 sides of the story. What's yours?
O: It just happened to be that there was no R&B within G-Unit so making a record was pretty hard.

BE-Mag: Being that you've evolved within the music industry would you ever work with artists such as Lady Gaga, Britney etc?
O: Oh yea definitely. I have a record out over seas where I'm working with someone.

BE-Mag: I also want to hit on a rumor that was going on with you and Missy as to why you left G-Unit.
O: *laughing* Don't we love rumors, that was kinda funny when 50(50 cent) made that smart ass comment about it but the thing was I would spend time with Missy recording and writing at her house and 50(50cent) would just get sensitive because they would love the work. He's a cancer and you how they are. *laughing* That's how he is he don't bother me.

BE-Mag: But your still cool with them?
O: oh yea

BE-Mag: I see you brought your management team or Rich Dollaz I should say how do you like them?
O: The whole team is creative and dope Love them I wanted to be with a small team because when your with a big management team with a big roster then you hardly get paid any attention. (J. Records) I felt that sometimes.

BE-Mag: Did you write your own songs on the album coming out (Alone With You)?

O: Yes I wrote 17 out of the 18 being featured.

BE-Mag: Oh wow!! That's a lot.
*Both laughing*
O: I wanted to do a double cd since I've been gone for soo long.

BE-Mag: That would be dope for your fans
O: Yea but management said it would be too much..

BE-Mag: Do you have any important motto you go by each day?
O: "Nice to be important but important to be nice"

After meeting with Ms. Olivia, we had a brief chit chat off the record as to how she has fun being a native NYC girl now residing in Long Island giving me her favorites, and of course picture time. All in all she's an artist that's talented in her own way and very much a humble soul to be around.

Creepa Showing Love PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jason "J.Write" Dinsmore

It was all too obvious that Creepa was an instant fan favorite on MTV’s first season of “From G’s to Gents”, but adoring fans weren’t the only know to know he’d walk away with the title. “I’m cool wit’ everybody man, and I been doing music & open mics for a long time. I’m cool wit’ niggas from the street & industry niggas; some of the industry niggas told me about the show & I was like that’s my show cuz you’ll never find a nigga more G than me or more gentleman than me.”

Creepa grew up on the harsh streets of Miami Dade, and always saw music as a platform to be a better dude, but he also recognized that music wasn’t the only opportunity he had to shine. “The media has a funny way of making it seem like the only way out of a bad situation or out the hood-so to speak-is by music or playing sports. So I guess by me leaving & not a lot of people being able to do that, it's like I left for everybody. When i came back I made sure I showed them what I learned. It's a lot more bigger business out there than just rapping, you know what i'm saying, and wanting to be a baller; if you use your brain, you control the whole thing."

With obvious common sense, it's no big magoical wonder that Creepa had high hopes for his $100,000 MTV prize money from starting a non-profit foundation working with kids all the way to furthing his passion for music and starting his own record label. "I'm back going hard with the music, you know, I had to take a step back for a second because of all of these swagger-jackers out here. That stuff kinda gets me hot, when you hear these dudes acting and rhyming about "your" lifestyle, but now I'mma show these cats what's really happening cuz they ain't doing it right."

Before his stint in reality tv land, Creepa wasn't one that event watched much tv due to his mother quickly revealing the real from the fake, and even admitted having fears of flying out to California for the actual filming & leaving Miami in general. "I was even scared to walk in and sit in front of the folks, cuz I was like I know I'm gon win, but sometimes you can be scared of success. Even after all the success life gets crazier cuz that's when everybody starts popping out on you with their hands out & the sad stories about folks lights about to get cut off & the anxiety attacks happen...man I was having real bad anxiety attacks after I won."

Creepa plans on maintaining his positive nature and capitalize on the platforms "From G's to Gents" continues to provide for him. He's in the plans for his own shot at reality tv throne with an upcoming show a la Flavor Flav & Ray J called "For the Love of Creepa". Along with staying the reality lime, Creepa is diving head-first back in the music industry crafting his own skill & providing an opportunity for other aspiring rappers that may not have the resources or industry smarts that he possesses.

You can catch Creepa touring the nation for charity on the BET Rap-It-Up Tour & check hin out on myspace at www.myspace.com/creepa070 or hit his MTV page [HERE] & follow him on twitter at www.twitter.com/creepa2010.

Prince Sammie - Coming of Age PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brian

A 22-year-old industry vet. Sounds oxymoronic, doesn’t it? But, when you are Prince Sammie – an R&B superstar on the verge of mainstream success and 10+ years of experience in the music biz under your belt– you’re wise enough to know you are only as big as your last hit.

Sammie Lee Bush, Jr. hit the scene in 1999-2000 with his debut album From the Bottom to the Top released on music mogul Dallas Austin’s (TLC, Pink, Monica) Freeworld Entertainment. That album introduced Sammie to the world with “I Like It” and “Crazy Things I Do For Love.” Most artists are advised to capitalize on their success with a sophomore album. But Sammie chose a road less traveled and took a hiatus from music to focus on education. After graduating high school in 2005, he re-signed with Dallas Austin (Rowdy Records) to release his sophomore album, Sammie. The then-18-year-old came with a more grown up sound with tracks like, “You Should Be My Girl” produced by Jazzy Pha and the Bryan-Michael Cox-produced, “Come With Me.”

Sammie didn’t keep his fans waiting between albums this time. He lent his vocals to Soulja Boy’s smash hit “Kiss Me Thru the Phone;” He also released his first mixtape in July 2009, entitled Swag & B: Volume 1 and an EP entitled, It’s Time on January 9, 2010. [CLICK HERE TO LISTEN] The EP includes a hot track featuring Trey Songz called “Put It On My Tab” that’s already getting major radio play.

Now, the young Pisces crooner is gearing up to release his aptly-titled album, Coming of Age through a new deal with Star Camp/Street Love/Interscope Records. With less than a month from celebrating his 23rd birthday (March 1st), BE Magazine caught up with Sammie and asked him to do a spread for Issue XVI.  Style Editor, Maurice “M.Jai” Lawyer, chose to do a spread reflective of the working title of his new album, Coming of Age. To assist him in this effort, Maurice called on Wardrobe Consultant and Stylist, Molleshia Robinson. The pair teamed up to translate the vision and enhance Sammie's overall image. The spread features Sammie in today’s hottest trend and wardrobe pieces for the young man who has found his grown-up look. (Years ago we called this “grown & sexy.”)

J.Holiday - 4 the LOVE of the Homeless PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jason "J.Write" Dinsmore

Grammy nominated artist J.Holiday is known for dropping heart-drenched hits like "Bed" & "Suffocate" off of his debut album 'Back of my Lac', but it's a song of his sophomore project that caught the attention of a thoughtful playwrite in Atlanta.

BE Entertained Magazine caught up with J.Holiday at the preview of "Speechless" a stage play highlighting the plaguing issue of homelessness, which is something the city of Atlanta & playwrite Randy Walls knows too well.

Holiday ripped the stage delivering a tear ripping performance of "Homeless" a song featured on 'Round 2' "Man I'll do anything for the homeless. Since I already had the song [Homeless] on my 2nd album, they kind of thought it would fit to have me at the preview & to help raise awareness of homelessness which is an issue that continues to be huge throughout most cities., then Nicholas House came on & here we are."

BE-Magazine: We know you just had a fresh album with some good hits, so what's good with the music?

J.Holiday: Ay man, like I said, we had "Homeless" of the 2nd album in here, and now I'm working on the 3rd album. Just working on that & trying to keep the people entertained.

BE-Mag: We've got a BIG holiday coming up...so what you got planned for the ladies for Valentine's day or what would a typical VDay be like with you?

J.Holiday: Honestly man, I like to sit & chill. I'd be like...you know what baby, I don't got nothing to do today so whatever it is you wanna do we can do it. If you want to sit in the house & watch movies, we can sit in the house and watch movies. If you want to go to the aquarium, we can go to the aquarium. It's more or less making sure that they can do what ever they want to do. Some people are like "buy you this, buy you that", but I'm more like "what you wanna do?"

J.Holiday is prepping up for a strong return, but in the meanwhile he keeping busy showing love for a cause bigger than most people ever regard, but touches us all both directly & indirectly on a daily basis. Continue to BE on the look out for J.Holiday on www.jholiday.com and follow him on twitter www.twitter.com/kingjholiday.
